Dental Insurance for Seniors
Question: I am a senior citizen living on a fixed income. I want to have affordable dental care for myself. Which is cheaper to get dental insurance or a dental plan? Which is more cost effective in the long run? I am new to having to get dental insurance on my own and just want to stay within my budget of what I can afford.
Reply: The lower cost dental insurance option would be an HMO insurance plan. They can run around $8.00 – $20.00 a month. Another dental plan option would be a dental discount plan. A dental discount plan is not insurance and for an individual they run around $7.00 – $10.00 a month. Dental HMO plans will normally provide you lower cost on the services they provide, where as a dental discount plan will provide you discounted saving on every dental service you have render at a plan provider office. So which plan would be better would depend on the type of dental care services you may be wanting to have.
